As you are already aware, weather forecasts indicate that Hurricane Sandy will hit the New York/New Jersey region early next week. Current reports indicate landfall either Tuesday or Wednesday. The purpose of this memo is to give you advance warning of the possibility of early dismissal or complete closure of The King's Academy during this period. Please take this opportunity to make alternate care arrangements for your child in advance of any actual dismissal or closure. Since forecasting the weather is an inaccurate affair, we can only alert you to the possibility of dismissals at this time. No definite decision will be made until there is more reliable information on the severity and duration of the hurricane. While we hope that the weather will not require these measures, our primary interest at this time is the safety of our students and staff. Please note the following:
1) Make certain that there are up-to-date contact numbers on file with the office so that you can be contacted in the event of early dismissals after school has already begun.
2) Please alert your job of the possibility that you may have to retrieve your child from school on short notice during this period.
3) Please be sure to log into the school website thekingsacademy.webs.com over the weekend for all current information regarding the status of school openings. (the web address has no spaces and is all lower-case)
This information will be available and updated on the website during the weekend and again after close of business on Monday.
4) During business hours please call 212-348-7380/ 7331 to check on the projected status of school closing.
5) Watch your local news and internet media outlets and use your best judgment. It may be more practical to keep your child home in the event of serious weather conditions as opposed to arranging pick up for them after the fact.
We thank you for your cooperation with us and wish you a safe and happy weekend and week to come.
