PRAISE JESUS,
AS WE KNOW THE MAYOR HAS CLOSED DOWN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS AT LEAST. WHILE THIS MANDATE DOES NOT DIRECTLY APPLY TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS AT THIS TIME, IT HAS BEEN STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT WE CLOSE FOR THE 2 DAYS WE ARE OPEN NEXT WEEK AS WELL.
AFTER CONSIDERING THE MATTER AND DISCUSSING IT WITH OUR PASTOR, WE HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION TO CLOSE THE KING'S ACADEMY FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY, NOVMEBER 23 & 24 IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL SCHEDULED THANKSGIVING BREAK.
WE NEVER TAKE CLOSURES AS A LIGHT MATTER, AND UNDERSTAND THE DIFFICULTIES IT PLACES ON PARENTS, AS IT AFFECTS US AS WELL.
AS A PRIVATE/RELIGIOUS SCHOOL WE BEAR GREATER SCRUTINY/TARGETING FROM THE NYC D.O.E. WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO MAINTAIN AN OPEN STATUS AS THEY MUST CLOSE.
THIS CLOSURE IS TO HELP ENSURE THAT AFTER THE THANKSGIVING BREAK WE ARE ABLE TO OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS.
AN ADDED BONUS IT THAT IT WILL ALLOW US TO SCHEDULE AN EXTRA DEEP CLEANING AND DISINFECTING OF OUR FACILITIES.
THE PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER THE THANKSGIVING BREAK, AND WILL BE CALL IN ONLY (212) 348-7380. THESE CALLS WILL BE AT YOUR CONVENIENCE, NOVEMBER 30 & DECEMBER 1, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8AM - 3PM. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND EACH CONFERENCE IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 20 MINUTES.
IT ALSO BEARS NOTIFYING THAT AS THE COVID #'S RISE, WE WILL SOON BE REQUIRED BY THE NYC D.O.E. TO HAVE THE STUDENTS TESTED FOR COVID. PLEASE START LOOKING INTO YOUR LOCAL TESTING SITES, AS WE DO NOT DO THIS ON PREMISE AND AS STATED WILL EVENTUALLY BE NEEDED TO ALLOW ENTRY IN THE SCHOOL. AS WE ARE INFORMED MORE ABOUT THIS WE WILL RELAY THE INFO TO YOU.

REOPENING POINTS OF NOTE
1) THE KING’S ACADEMY DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES.
2) THE KING’S ACADEMY DOES NOT PROVIDE FOOD SERVICES.
3) FIELD TRIPS ARE CURRENTLY CANCELLED TILL FURTHER NOTICE
4) ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES ARE ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
5) MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.
6) SOCIAL DISTANCING OF 6 FT. MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES BY ALL STUDENTS.
7) BUILDING WILL BE CLEANED AND SANITIZED BY CUSTODIAL STAFF DAILY, AS WELL AS JAN-PRO CLEANING SERVICES EVERY WEEK.
THE SCHOOL HAS SECURED AMPLE QUANTITIES OF GLOVES, FACE MASK, HAND SOAP, BLEACH, PAPER TOWELS, TOILET TISSUE, TOUCH FREE SANITIZER STATION AND ALCOHOL BASED SANITIZER
9) ALL NOTIFICATIONS WILL BE MADE UTILIZING THE CLASS DOJO SYSTEM, SCHOOL WEBSITE thekingsacademy.webs.com , AND FACEBOOK PAGE.
DAILY ADMITTANCE & EXITING PROCEDURES
1) SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES OF 6 FT MUST BE ADHERED TO AT ALL TIMES.
2) MASK MUST BE IN PLACE BEFORE ENTRANCE TO BUILDING, AND AT ALL TIME WHEN IN THE BUILDING BY ALL PARTIES.
3) SANITIZER MUST BE USED BEFORE ENTRY TO THE BUILDING, AND PERIODICALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
4) ONLY 1 STUDENT/ 1 PARENT ALLOWED IN ENTRY HALLWAY AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
5) TEMPERATURES WILL BE CHECKED DAILY, AND QUESTIONARRE ADMINISTERED FOR ALL STUDENT S AND STAFF. ANYONE FAILING TEMPERATURE CHECK OR UNABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY ANSWER QUESTIONARRE WILL BE REFUSED ADMITTANCE TO THE SCHOOL.
6) ALL CONFERENCES WITH STAFF WILL BE DONE THROUGH THE GLASS ENTRY WINDOW.
7) ATTENDANCE FOR ALL WILL BE TAKEN AT ENTRY DOOR DAILY, FOR MEANS OF CONTACT TRACING BY CITY IF NEEDED.
PLEASE CALL 15 MINUTES BEFORE PICKING UP YOUR CHILD SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THEM READY TO EXIT.
CLASSROOM AND ASSEMBLY ROOM PROCEDURES
AS THE KING’S ACADEMY IS A SMALL RELIGIOUS PRIVATE SCHOOL, WE ARE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE AMPLE AREA FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING AS WE ONLY HAVE A STUDENT BASE OF 35 STUDENTS.
ONLY 10 STUDENTS WILL BE HOUSED IN A CLASSROOM AT ANY GIVEN TIME. SOCIAL DISTANCING, MASK AND DESK SHIELDS MUST BE IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES.
NO SHARED MATERIALS WILL BE ALLOWED, (PENS, PENCILS, BOOKS) STUDENTS MUST COME PREPARED WITH THEIR OWN MATERIALS.
LUNCH WILL BE EATEN AT YOUR ASSIGNED ASSEMBLY ROOM DESK (THIS WILL BE YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT FOR THE YEAR), DESK SHIELD MUST BE IN PLACE. ANY NEEDED MATERIALS (BOWLS, PLATES, UTENSILS) WILL BE GIVEN OUT BY TEACHER.
HAND SANITIZER SHOULD BE APPLIED PERIODICALLY.
ALL WINDOWS WILL BE OPEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO MAINTAIN MAXIUM VENTILATION.
DAILY REVIEW OF HYGEINE AND SANITARY GUIDELINES FOR ALL STUDENTS TO ENSURE UNDERSTANDING.
MONTHLY FIRE DRILLS WILL TAKE PLACE AS SCHEDULED UTILIZING PROPER DISTANCING PROTOCOLS.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING PROCEDURES
1) DAILY CLEANING AND DISINFECTING OF BUIDLING AND ALL SURFACES WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER ALL STUDENTS HAVE LEFT FOR THE DAY.
2) WEEKLY CLEANING, AND DISINFECTING OF ENTIRE BUILDING WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAYS, TO BE PERFORMED BY JAN-PRO.
3) CLASSROOM BATHROOMS WILL BE SANITIZED AND DISINFECTED THROUGH OUT THE DAY.
4) ASSEMBLY ROOM BATHROOMS WILL BE CLEANED THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
5) ALL TABLE SHIELDS WILL BE CLEANED AND DISINFECTED DAILY.
6) ALL POINT OF CONTACT WILL BE CLEANED AND SANITIZED DAILY BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL.
7) SEPARATE LOGS WILL BE KEPT FOR DAILY AND WEEKLY CLEANINGS.
PAPER TOWELS AROUND THE BUILDING WIIL BE RESTOCKED AS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
9) ALL SOAP DISPENSERS AND TOUCHLESS SANITIZING STATIONS WILL BE REFILLED DAILY.
10) IN THE EVENT OF CLOSURE, DUE TO COVID INFECTION, ENTIRE BUILDING WILL BE CLEANED, SANITIZED AND DISINFECTED BY JAN-PRO CLEANING SERVICES BEFORE REOPENING WILL BE ALLOWED.
11) PROPER CLEANING AND SANITIZING SIGNAGE WILL BE PLACE IN ALL BATHROOMS AND AROUND COMMON AREAS. DAILY INSTRUCTION IN THESE MATTERS WILL BE REVIEWED WITH STUDENTS AND STAFF.
TEACHING PROCEDURE
1) FINAL STUDENT COUNT WILL DETERMINE CLASS SCHEDULES.
2) IN THE EVENT OF COVID SHUTDOWN, CLASSES WILL RESUME VIA ZOOM/ BEKA ONLINE LEARNING SYSTEM.
3) REMOTE LEARNING VIA ZOOM/BEKA ONLINE SYSTEM WILL BE AVAILABLE AS NEEDED AFTER STUDENT BASE IS FINALIZED.
4) NO SHARED MATERIALS ALLOWED IN CLASSROOM OR ASSEMBLY ROOM.
5) ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS MUST REMAIN WITH THE STUDENTS AT ALL TIMES.
6) DESK SHIELDS AND MASKS MUST BE IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES.
7) WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MINIMIZED.
IN THE EVENT OF SYMPTOMS
1) PARENT WILL IMMEDIATELY BE NOTIFIED AND MUST HAVE ARRANGMENTS IN PLACE FOR IMMEDIATE PICKUP.
2) PARENTAL NOTICE WILL BE SENT TO PARENTS.
3) DOCTORS CLEARANCE AND TESTING REQUIRED BEFORE ADMITTANCE TO SCHOOL IS PERMITTED.
4) STUDENT WILL BE ISOLATED UNTIL PICKUP.
5) PROPER ISOLATION OF AREA/AREAS AND CLEANING PROCEDURES WILL BE FOLLOWED.
6) RECORD WILL BE FILED FOR FURTHER REFERENCE
